Influential early publications

Here are three English publications that have had a great influence on how Jacoulet has been described and evaluated in English sources. The Rainbow Book (1935) and the biography by Wells (1957) were written during Jacoulet’s life. He most likely had significant input in both. The Miles book (1982) has been the most widely cited source in descriptions of Jacoulet on art dealer websites and other on-line sources.

1934 sales brochure for a set of prints published by Junji Katoh. It was the first and last time Jacoulet used a publisher. Contains short reviews by Japanese artists and critics, including Yone Noguchi.
1957 biography published by the Foreign Affairs Association of Japan. Wells was an English professor at a university in Tokyo.
